Business & Work
Sahih HadithSunan Abi Dawud 5087

In the name of Allah, the one whose name is such that nothing on earth nor in the heavens can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.

Bismillahi alladhi la yadhurru ma'asmihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa huwas-Sami'ul-'Alim.

When to Read

This powerful supplication is recommended to be recited every morning and evening, three times each. It's particularly beneficial to invoke this protection when embarking on new business ventures, when dealing with clients or partners, or whenever you feel a sense of unease or potential envy surrounding your work.

How to Read

Recite this dua sincerely with full conviction in Allah's power to protect. It is often recommended to recite it facing your place of business or while holding the key to your shop or office. You can also blow gently on your hands and chest after reciting.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua is a fortress against harm, both seen and unseen. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, 'Whoever says this three times in the morning, he will not be afflicted with any calamity suddenly, and whoever says it three times in the evening, he will not be overtaken by calamity suddenly until morning comes.' (Sunan Abu Dawood 5087). By reciting it, we place our trust in Allah, seeking His divine shield against any ill effects of the evil eye or envy that might target our livelihoods.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Abu Ad-Darda: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Whoever says 'SubhanAllahi wa bihamdihi, ' (Glory be to Allah and praise be to Him,) one hundred times in the morning and one hundred times in the evening, his sins will be forgiven even if they were as abundant as the foam of the sea. And whoever says, 'Bismillahi alladhi la yadhurru ma'asmihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa huwas-Sami'ul-'Alim.' (In the name of Allah, the one whose name is such that nothing on earth nor in the heavens can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing) three times in the morning, he will not be afflicted with any calamity suddenly, and whoever says it three times in the evening, he will not be overtaken by calamity suddenly until morning comes." — Sunan Abu Dawood 5087
