اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ
O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and make me independent by Your grace from all except You.
Allahumma-kfini bihalalika 'an haramika wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak
When to Read
This is a beautiful and comprehensive supplication that can be recited at any time, but it's particularly potent when facing financial decisions, starting a new business venture, or when feeling the pressure to engage in unlawful financial practices like riba. Make it a regular part of your morning remembrance (dhikr) or recite it before making important financial choices.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, believing in Allah's ability to provide all that is lawful and sufficient. Raise your hands in supplication as is the practice for dua, and focus on the meaning of the words. Imagine Allah's mercy surrounding you and His provision being more than enough. This is not just a phrase to be uttered, but a heartfelt plea to the One who controls all sustenance.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encompasses a profound request for protection from unlawful means and sufficiency through lawful ones. It directly addresses the temptation of engaging in riba by asking Allah to provide enough through halal means so that one is not driven to seek haram. By asking to be made independent through Allah's grace, we seek to detach our hearts from reliance on anything other than Him, including wealth gained through forbidden means. This leads to peace of mind and contentment, knowing that true richness is in closeness to Allah and in earning His pleasure.

The hadith describes how the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught his uncle Al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) this very dua. Al-Abbas asked the Prophet ﷺ for something. The Prophet ﷺ said to him: 'O uncle, verily I grant you a gift! Verily I give you a present! Verily I bestow upon you a bestowal!' Then he mentioned the rest of the hadith. The dua itself is a powerful supplication taught by the Prophet ﷺ for wealth and sustenance, emphasizing the importance of lawful earnings and independence from need from creation.
