It's crucial to accompany this dua with your best effort in fulfilling your responsibilities, as Allah helps those who help themselves.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is a direct plea to Allah for protection and relief from oppressive individuals. When recited with sincere reliance on Allah (Tawakkul), it invokes His divine assistance. It reminds us that no matter how powerful or difficult a person may seem, Allah is the ultimate controller of all affairs. Seeking His sufficiency assures us that He will manage the situation in a way that is best for us, potentially through a change in circumstances, a softening of the boss's heart, or by granting you the strength to endure and overcome.

Narrated Abu Hurairah: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was in a journey, and the companions became very troubled and afraid of the enemy, and they said: 'O Messenger of Allah, do you fear anything?' He said: 'I fear Allah.' Then they said: 'We do not see anyone more pious than you.' He said: 'I am a servant of Allah, I fear Him, and I am safe from Him as no one else is safe. O Allah, suffice me against them as You wish.' *Context*: While the hadith speaks of fear from an enemy during a journey, the core supplication, 'Allahumma-kfinihim bima shi't' (O Allah, suffice me against them as You wish), is general. It's a request for Allah's protection and sufficiency against any perceived threat or difficulty posed by others, making it applicable to various stressful interpersonal situations, including dealing with a difficult boss.
