Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 72

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan

When to Read

This powerful supplication is an excellent addition to your morning routine, especially before heading to work or starting your business activities. It's also fitting to recite it at the beginning of any new venture or when seeking Allah's guidance in difficult business decisions. Making it a habit after Fajr prayer connects your worldly efforts with spiritual seeking.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and a humble heart. Raise your hands as you would in other supplications, facing the Qiblah if possible. Believe in Allah's power to grant your requests and be mindful of His presence as you seek His blessings for your sustenance and actions.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates three vital aspects for a fulfilling life and a successful, ethical business. Beneficial knowledge ( 'ilman nafi'an) allows you to make sound decisions and avoid pitfalls. Goodly provision (rizqan tayyiban) ensures your earnings are pure and blessed, bringing peace and satisfaction. Acceptable deeds ('amalan mutaqabbalan) mean your efforts, including your work, are recognized and rewarded by Allah, both in this life and the next. This comprehensive request helps align your worldly pursuits with your ultimate purpose.

Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to say when he started his prayer: 'Subhani Allah wa bihamdik, wa tabarakasmuka, wa ta'ala jadduka, wa la ilaha ghayruk.' (Glory be to Allah, and praise be to Him; blessed be Your name, and exalted be Your majesty; there is no god but You). And when he finished his prayer, he would say: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.' (O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds).
