Dua is not a substitute for effort, but a means to bless and guide your effort. 5. **Cleanliness (Taharah):** It's always best to be in a state of wudu when making dua, showing respect and reverence.

Virtues & Benefits

The virtues of this supplication are profound, rooted in the Prophet's ﷺ teaching: 1. **Allah Fulfills Debts, No Matter How Vast:** The context of this dua is truly remarkable. As narrated by Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), the Prophet ﷺ taught this dua to a slave struggling to pay for his freedom, saying: "If you had a debt like the mountain of Sir, Allah would fulfill it for you." (Jami' at-Tirmidhi 3563). This shows Allah's immense power and generosity in responding to this plea. 2. **Sufficiency through Halal:** By asking Allah to suffice us with His lawful provision, we seek His direct help in ensuring our earnings are blessed and free from doubt. This protects our hearts and our households. 3. **Protection from Haram:** The dua explicitly asks for protection from the unlawful. In a world full of temptations and quick gains, this is an invaluable shield for our faith and our sustenance. 4. **Independence from Others (Ghinan billah):** We ask Allah to make us independent through His bounty, meaning we don't have to compromise our principles or rely on the favors of people in a way that diminishes our dignity or faith. True richness is being self-sufficient through Allah's blessings. 5. **Barakah in Wealth:** When wealth is earned through lawful means and with Allah's help, it is imbued with Barakah (blessings), bringing peace, contentment, and lasting benefit.

Narrated 'Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him): "A Mukatab (a slave who had a contract to buy his freedom) came to 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: 'I am unable to pay my freedom, so help me.' He said: 'Shall I not teach you some words which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught me? If you had a debt like the mountain of Sir, Allah would fulfill it for you.' He said: 'Say: اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ (Allahummak-fini bi halalika 'an haramika wa aghnini bi fadlika 'amman siwak - O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision against Your unlawful, and make me independent of all those besides You with Your bounty).'"
