Business & Work
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 2722

اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِنِي وَسَدِّدْنِي وَاذْكُرْ بِرَشَدِي

O Allah, guide me and set me right, and make me remember the path of righteousness.

Allahumma ihdini wa saddidni wadhkur bi rashadi

When to Read

Recite this dua before entering into negotiations, signing agreements, or when you anticipate facing challenges with a business partner whose personality is proving difficult. It's also beneficial to make this a regular supplication during your work hours.

How to Read

It is recommended to raise your hands slightly when making this dua, as was the practice of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Face the Qiblah if possible. Recite with sincerity and a hopeful heart, focusing on the meaning and seeking Allah's assistance. Making this dua after your obligatory prayers is also a powerful time.

Virtues & Benefits

This comprehensive dua asks Allah for three vital things for navigating any challenge, especially complex interpersonal dealings in business: 'ihdini' (guide me) asks for direction and wisdom; 'saddidni' (set me right/make me straight) asks for adherence to the right path and actions, preventing deviation; and 'wadhkur bi rashadi' (make me remember the path of righteousness) asks for the ability to recall and implement righteous principles even under pressure. Seeking Allah's guidance ensures that your decisions are just, ethical, and ultimately blessed.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say when he turned to leave his house: 'In the name of Allah, I trust in Allah. There is no might nor power except with Allah.' He would then say: 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from straying, or being led astray, or slipping, or being caused to slip, or being wronged, or being wronged, or being wronged, or being caused to be wronged, or being ignorant, or being made ignorant.' He would also say: 'O Allah, I ask You for the good of this journey and the good of what it contains, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of this journey and the evil of what it contains.' A man said to him: 'O Messenger of Allah, may my parents be sacrificed for you! You have supplicated with comprehensive words.' He said: 'I fear that something of the supplication that I have not asked You for might happen to me.' Another version of the wording of this supplication is: 'O Allah, guide me and set me right and remind me of my right course, and make me remember the path of rectitude.' [Sahih Muslim 2722]
