O Allah, I seek refuge in You from distress and sorrow, I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness, I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from the burden of debt and the overpowering of men.
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-hammi wal-hazani, wa a'udhu bika minal-'ajzi wal-kasali, wa a'udhu bika minal-jubni wal-bukhli, wa a'udhu bika min ghalabad-dayni wa qahri ar-rijali.

How to Read

Imagine the relief and ease you are asking for. Remember that Allah (SWT) loves those who turn to Him in their times of need.
Virtues & Benefits
This supplication, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, is incredibly comprehensive. It seeks refuge not only from debt ('ghalabad-dayn' - the overwhelming of debt) but also from the psychological burdens associated with it (distress and sorrow), the potential lack of motivation to find solutions (incapacity and laziness), and the feeling of being dominated or oppressed by creditors or circumstances ('qahr ar-rijal' - the overpowering of men, which can extend to difficult people or systems). By seeking refuge in Allah from these specific ills, we are asking for His divine intervention to ease our burdens, provide pathways out of debt, and grant us strength and resilience.
