O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is inevitable, and Your decision concerning me is just. I ask You by every name belonging to You, which You have bestowed upon Yourself, or have caused one of Your creatures to utter, or have revealed in Your Book, or have preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Qur'an the springtime of my heart, and the light of my chest, and a banisher of my sadness and a reliever of my anxiety.

Reported by Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "No person suffers any anxiety or grief, and then says: O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is inevitable, and Your decision concerning me is just. I ask You by every name belonging to You, which You have bestowed upon Yourself, or You have caused one of Your creatures to learn, or You have revealed in Your Book, or You have preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Qur'an the springtime of my heart, and the light of my chest, and a banisher of my sadness and a reliever of my anxiety,' but Allah will take away his anxiety and grief and replace them with joy." It was said: O Messenger of Allah! Should we learn these words? He replied: "Yes, it is necessary for everyone who hears them to learn them."
