Business & Work
Sahih HadithSunan Abi Dawud 4924

O Allah, I ask You for its [i.e., the new industry's] good, the good of its people, and the good of what it contains. And I seek refuge in You from its evil, the evil of its people, and the evil of what it contains.

Allahumma inni as'aluka khayraha wa khayra ahliha wa khayra ma fiha, wa a'udhu bika min sharriha wa sharri ahliha wa sharri ma fiha.

Recite this dua with sincerity and full reliance on Allah. Imagine yourself entering this new phase, and present your hopes for its goodness and your fears of its challenges to Allah. Raise your hands in supplication as you would for any other important dua. It's best to recite it before you actively engage with the new industry, setting your intention for Allah's guidance and protection.

Virtues & Benefits

This comprehensive supplication covers all aspects of entering a new environment. By asking for the 'good' of the industry, its people, and its contents, you are seeking Allah's blessing in every facet of your new role. Simultaneously, seeking refuge from its 'evil' protects you from potential pitfalls, negative influences, and unforeseen difficulties. It's a powerful way to entrust your new journey to the One who has complete knowledge and control.

Source & Authentication

Narrated Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'When anyone of you travels to a new place or a new city, he should say: O Allah, I ask You for its good, the good of its people, and the good of what it contains. And I seek refuge in You from its evil, the evil of its people, and the evil of what it contains.' This hadith, though concerning travel, perfectly encapsulates the principle of seeking Allah's help when entering any new and unfamiliar territory, including a new industry.
