اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ، وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ
O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me by Your grace, so that I shall not need need of anyone other than You.
Allahumma akfini bihalalika 'an haramika, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak.
When to Read
This powerful dua is incredibly relevant when you feel the strain of providing for your family and the demands of your profession pulling you in different directions. Recite it during times of financial pressure, when making important career decisions, or simply as a regular supplication after your obligatory prayers to seek Allah's guidance and sufficiency in managing both your worldly responsibilities and your spiritual obligations.
How to Read
Make this dua with sincerity, raising your hands as you do for other supplications. Picture your needs in your mind, seeking Allah's intervention. Believe that Allah will provide for you in ways you may not expect, through lawful means. It's best recited after your prayers, or at any time you feel the need for Allah's support in your endeavors.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is a profound request for Allah's provision and independence. By asking Allah to suffice us with His lawful means, we are essentially asking Him to make our work permissible and rewarding, keeping us away from unlawful earnings. The second part, 'enrich me by Your grace, so that I shall not need anyone other than You,' is a deep plea for contentment and self-sufficiency through Allah's bounty, fostering a strong sense of reliance solely on Him and reducing reliance on creation. This directly addresses the balance needed, as a reliance on Allah can calm the anxieties that arise from juggling work and family.

The hadith is narrated on the authority of Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) taught me these words and promised that if the whole of the debt were as large as Mount Sabir, Allah would help him to pay it. He (the narrator) said: Ali said: 'I said: O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! He taught me a du'a (which) I would recite and my debt was paid.' He said: Recite: 'Allahumma akfini bihalalika 'an haramika, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak.'
