اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ

O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision so that I am independent of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me by Your grace so that I am independent of anyone but You.

Allahumma akfini bihalalika 'an haramika, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwaka

When to Read

This powerful dua is particularly fitting when you are embarking on a new business venture, making significant investments, seeking growth in your current enterprise, or simply striving for financial independence through halal means. Recite it whenever you feel the need for Allah's blessing (barakah) in your earnings, want to ensure your provision comes from lawful sources, or are facing financial challenges like debt, hoping for Allah to open doors of sustenance for you. It's a plea for sufficiency from lawful means and independence from reliance on anyone but Allah, making it a constant companion for the Muslim entrepreneur or professional.

How to Read

To make this dua with sincerity and focus, ensure your heart is present and your intention is pure – that you genuinely seek lawful provision and Allah's blessings. You can recite it at any time, but especially after your prescribed prayers, during the last third of the night, or during times of prostration (sujood) when a servant is closest to their Lord. Raising your hands during dua is a recommended sunnah, showing humility and earnestness before Allah. Have conviction that Allah will respond, for He is the Most Generous and the Provider.

Virtues & Benefits

The immense benefit of this dua, as taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), is its ability to lift the burden of even mountainous debt. By reciting it, you are directly asking Allah to suffice you with **halal** (lawful) provision, making you independent of **haram** (unlawful) sources. It cultivates a deep sense of trust and reliance solely on Allah for your sustenance, freeing you from anxiety about material provision. This spiritual independence, coupled with Allah's grace, leads to genuine richness of the heart and mind, and material prosperity that is blessed and long-lasting. It reminds us that true wealth lies in being independent through Allah's favor, not through reliance on creation.

Source & Authentication

Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: 'The Mukatib (a slave who has an agreement with his master to pay a certain amount for his freedom) came to him and said: "I am unable to pay my mukatabah, so help me." Ali said: "Shall I not teach you some words which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught me? If you had a debt like the mountain of Sir, Allah would pay it off for you. Say: Allahumma akfini bihalalika 'an haramika, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwaka (O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision so that I am independent of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me by Your grace so that I am independent of anyone but You)."'
