Business & Work
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 777

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا.

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure provision, and deeds accepted [by You].

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.

When to Read

This is a powerful supplication the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would recite every morning after Fajr. It's perfect for starting your workday, especially when you're embarking on a new project, seeking to learn a new skill, or hoping for productivity and acceptance in your professional endeavors. Recite it with sincere intention as you begin your day's work or before undertaking a task requiring focused effort and learning.

How to Read

Raise your hands in supplication, facing the Qiblah if possible, and recite this dua with humility and conviction. Focus on the meaning of each part: seeking knowledge that benefits you and others, earning a living that is pure and lawful, and performing actions that are pleasing to Allah. Believe that Allah hears your dua and will respond in the best way.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates seeking the best in three crucial areas of a Muslim's life: knowledge, provision, and action. Beneficial knowledge leads to righteous deeds and a deeper understanding of faith. Pure provision sustains the body and soul without the taint of unlawful earnings. Accepted deeds bring closeness to Allah and reward in this life and the next. By asking for these three, we seek Allah's comprehensive blessing in our professional journey, ensuring our efforts are aligned with His pleasure.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'The dua of the Prophet Dawud (David) was: Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan. (O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure provision, and deeds accepted [by You]).' And Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: 'When he saw the new crescent moon, he would say: Hilalun khayrun wa rushdun. Allahumma ahillahu 'alayna bil-amni wal-iman, was-salama wal-islam, wa tawfiqi lima tuhibbu Rabbana wa terda. Allahu Rabbuna wa Rabbuk.'
