The hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) states that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'None of you should say: 'O Allah, forgive me if You wish, O Allah, have mercy on me if You wish.' He should ask Allah with determination, for there is no one to compel Him, the Mighty and the Majestic.' In another narration related to seeking provision, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, distributes His provision amongst the people as He distributes it amongst them, by way of His creation. It is from His bounty. The intelligent person is he who seeks the bounty of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic.' (Sahih Muslim 2085, attributed to Abu Hurairah and Anas ibn Malik). While this specific phrasing 'Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlik' is often used in the context of seeking sustenance, its principle applies beautifully to securing just and fair contracts, as these are means of lawful provision.
