This dua is recited before starting to eat a meal, after thanking Allah for the provision. It's a beautiful way to acknowledge that all sustenance comes from Him and to seek His blessing not just in the current meal, but for even better provisions in the future.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity before partaking in any meal. It is best to recite it from memory, but if needed, one can refer to it. The intention should be to seek Allah's blessing and express gratitude for His provision, seeing food as a gift that sustains us physically and can, when sought with intention, also be a means for spiritual growth and knowledge.
Virtues & Benefits
Reciting this dua invites Allah's blessing (barakah) into the food, making it more beneficial for the body and soul. It fosters gratitude for the blessings received and expresses hope for continued, even better, provision. By seeking blessing in food, we are in essence seeking Allah's help to derive good from it – good health, strength, and the ability to use our faculties for His worship and for gaining beneficial knowledge. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that seeking blessing in food is a sign of faith and gratitude.
