Dua for Seeking the Best of this Food and Protection from its Harm

Before Eating
Hasan HadithSunan Ibn Majah 3288

O Allah, make it good food, and make it blessed food, and make it a cure from every illness.

Allahumma ij'alhu ta'aman tayyiban, waj'alhu ta'aman mubarakan, waj'alhu shifaa'an min kulli daa'.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'When one of you eats food, let him say: O Allah, make it good food, and make it blessed food, and make it a cure from every illness. And when one of you drinks milk, let him say: O Allah, bless us in it and increase us in it, for I do not know of anything that suffices for food and drink except milk.' (Reported by Ibn Majah and declared Hasan by Al-Albani).
