Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would not set out in the morning but would say: 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief. I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness. I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess. I seek refuge in You from the burden of debt and the subduing of men.' He (ﷺ) would also say: 'O Allah, I ask You for a living that is pure, knowledge that is beneficial, and a deed that is acceptable.' When he returned (from the mosque) he would say: 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the disgrace of this world and the disgrace of the Day of Resurrection. O Allah, bless that which You have provided for us, and forgive us and have mercy on us.' Abu Dharr reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'None of you should eat with your left hand or eat while leaning on one of you.' He said: 'I was summoned by the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and I was eating, and he said: 'Eat with your right hand.' I said: 'It does not reach it.' He said: 'May it not reach it.' He said: 'I was summoned by the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and I was eating, and he said: 'Eat with your right hand.' I said: 'I am not able to.' He said: 'May you not be able to!' (He said:) He said: 'It was only my right hand that was afflicted.' Abu Nadrah reported: A group of people came to Ibn al-Mubarak and said: 'O Abu 'Abdur Rahman, we have eaten but are not satiated.' He said: 'Perhaps you eat separately.' They said: 'Yes.' He said: 'So, eat together and invoke the name of Allah over your food, and it will be blessed for you.'
