The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'When any one of you eats food, he should say: Allahumma barik lana feehi wa at'imna khayran minhu. (O Allah, bless it for us and feed us better than it). And when he is given milk to drink, he should say: Allahumma barik lana feehi wa zidna minhu. (O Allah, bless it for us and increase us in it). For verily, nothing can be substituted for food and drink except milk.' (Sunan Abi Dawud 3767). This hadith highlights the importance of supplication before consuming sustenance, with specific duas for food and milk.
