Yahya related to me from Malik, from Humayd al-Tawil, from Anas ibn Malik that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Allah the Mighty and Exalted said: 'O son of Adam, if you are asked for anything and you do not give it, then you will be asked for it on the Day of Resurrection. O son of Adam, a loan from Me is not repaid, and a favour from Me is not repaid, but the meeting with Me is on the Day of Resurrection. O son of Adam, the day and the night are new creations. When you fast for a day, say: 'O Allah, I ask You for the sustenance of the heavens and the earth, and the best way to seek it is through Your grace.' And when you break your fast, say: 'In the name of Allah. O Allah, bless us in what You have provided us, forgive us, and have mercy upon us.' Malik said, 'The people of knowledge recite this when they break their fast.'
