Virtues & Benefits
This supplication, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself to Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) when he noticed Anas's mother had little food to offer, highlights the profound power of dua. Even with limited provisions, invoking Allah's blessing can make the food more filling, nourishing, and satisfying than a larger amount without His barakah. It also encompasses seeking forgiveness and mercy, demonstrating a comprehensive request for well-being.

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: My mother sent me to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) with some barley. I went to him with it, and he was sitting with his companions. He said: 'Put it in this sack.' I put it in the sack and he said: 'Have the dough been kneaded?' I said: 'Yes.' So he kneaded it, and then said: 'Where is your mother?' I said: 'Aisha is in the house.' He said: 'This is my food and that is her food.' And he said: 'O Allah, bless them in what You have provided them, forgive them and have mercy upon them.' So I went to my mother and told her about it, and she said: 'O Allah, bless Your Messenger.' And she sent me back to him with some clarified butter. When it was brought to him, he said: 'Has the dough been kneaded?' I said: 'Yes.' So he kneaded it, and then said: 'Where is your mother?' I said: 'Aisha is in the house.' He said: 'This is my food and that is her food.' And he said: 'O Allah, bless them in what You have provided them, forgive them and have mercy upon them.' (Sahih Muslim 2042)
