حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَهُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ
Allah is sufficient for me. There is no god but He. On Him I have placed my trust, and He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne.
Hasbiyallahu la ilaha illa Huwa, 'alayhi tawakkaltu wa Huwa Rabbul 'Arshil 'Adheem.
When to Read
This powerful dua is meant to be recited when you feel overwhelmed, cornered, or utterly helpless. It's for those moments when the weight of the world feels too much, and you can see no earthly solution. Recite it after every obligatory prayer, or at any point during the day when you feel the pangs of helplessness creeping in. It serves as a vital anchor, reminding you that your ultimate reliance is not on yourself or others, but on the One who controls all affairs.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincere conviction and heartfelt reliance on Allah. Believe in the meaning of the words as you utter them. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this dua, and its recitation should be done with a humble heart, acknowledging our own limitations and Allah's infinite power and sufficiency. It's recommended to recite it seven times after each obligatory prayer, as per the explanation of the scholars who have studied this hadith, though even reciting it once with full conviction is immensely beneficial.
Virtues & Benefits
The primary benefit of this dua is the profound sense of peace and security it brings by affirming Tawakkul (reliance on Allah). When we declare that 'Allah is sufficient for me,' we are entrusting all our worries and burdens to His care. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, concerning this dua: 'Whoever says this in the morning seven times, Allah will suffice him from what is bothering him.' (Sahih al-Bukhari 6306). This means Allah will protect you from any harm, worry, or distress that you are facing or might face.
