I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan. O Allah, forgive me my sin, remove the anger from my heart, save me from Satan, and save me from the accursed Satan.
A'udhu billahi minash-Shaitanir-rajeem. Allahummaghfir li dhanbi, wa adhhib ghayza qalbi, wa ajirni minash-Shaitan, wa ajirni minash-Shaitanir-rajeem.
When to Read
This dua is especially potent when you feel that familiar heat rising within you – the frustration and sting of seeing your hard work go unrecognized, or worse, deliberately sabotaged. It's a moment when your efforts feel undermined, and anger threatens to take over. Recite it as soon as you feel the urge to lash out or despair. It's also beneficial to recite regularly to build a stronger defense against anger.
How to Read
Begin by seeking refuge in Allah from the expelled devil. This initial step is crucial, acknowledging that anger often has an external instigator. Then, make the sincere plea to Allah, asking for forgiveness for any shortcomings that might fuel the anger, and most importantly, for the removal of the anger itself from your heart. Repeat the seeking of refuge from Satan to reinforce the protection. It's best recited with sincerity and a focused heart, even if you have to whisper it to yourself.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua directly addresses the root of anger, which is often tied to our ego and the influence of Shaitan. By seeking forgiveness, we purify ourselves. By asking Allah to remove the anger from our hearts, we are asking for a profound inner cleansing. Shaitan is our known enemy, and seeking refuge from him protects us from his whispers that incite rage and resentment. This supplication helps in maintaining composure and protecting our faith when our patience is tested.
Source & Authentication
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Indeed, the anger is from Shaitan, and indeed Shaitan was created from fire, and indeed, the water extinguishes fire, so if one of you becomes angry, let him say: "A'udhu billahi minash-Shaitanir-rajeem" (I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan).' Another narration states: 'Indeed, the anger is a live coal from Satan in the heart of the son of Adam. Has not one of you noticed its swelling in his throat and the prominence of his veins? So if anyone of you perceives this, he should press his lip to his chest and hold on to it, and seek refuge in Allah from the Satan, the accursed.'
