O Allah, it is Your mercy that I hope for, so do not entrust me to my own self for even the blink of an eye, and set all my affairs right for me. There is no god but You.
Allahumma rahmataka arju, fala takilni ila nafsi tarfata 'ain, wa aslih li sha'ni kullahu, la ilaha illa ant
When to Read
Recite this when you find yourself consistently bothered by small things – maybe a coworker's habits, traffic jams, or even the relentless noise of city life. It's a powerful plea for divine assistance when your own patience wears thin and you feel on the verge of losing composure. Say it just before or during a moment of irritation.
How to Read
Recite with sincere intention, focusing on your need for Allah's mercy to govern your reaction. Raise your hands if you are alone or in a private space, as is the Sunnah for supplication. Believe that Allah will answer and grant you the inner strength to deal with the annoyance.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is profoundly impactful because it acknowledges our utter dependence on Allah's mercy (rahmah). By asking not to be left to ourselves, even for a moment, we recognize our own limitations in managing anger and frustration. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua to his daughter Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), highlighting its importance for seeking comprehensive well-being and protection from internal and external harm. It helps to shift focus from the annoyance itself to seeking Allah's blessings and guidance in setting our affairs straight, fostering a sense of peace that transcends the external irritant.

Narrated by Abdullah ibn Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him): Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) said to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ: 'Teach me some words to say when I ask for something from Allah.' He said: 'Say: O Allah, bestow Your mercy upon me, and protect me, and provide for me, and make me self-sufficient, and have mercy on me, and make me well, and forgive me my sins.' He (Abdullah) said: 'He (the Prophet ﷺ) said these words: O Allah, bestow Your mercy upon me, and protect me, and provide for me, and make me self-sufficient, and have mercy on me, and make me well, and forgive me my sins.' He said: 'He said to Fatimah: Say: O Allah, Your mercy is what I hope for, so do not leave me to myself for the blink of an eye, and set all my affairs right for me. There is no god but You.'
