O Allah, I ask You for well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religion, my worldly affairs, my family, and my property. O Allah, conceal my weaknesses and comfort my fears. O Allah, protect me from before me and from behind me, from my right and from my left, and from above me. And I seek refuge in Your Magnificence from being taken from beneath me.
Allahumma inni as'alukal 'afiyata fid-dunya wal-akhirah. Allahumma inni as'alukal 'afwa wal-'afiyata fi dini wa dunyaya wa ahli wa mali. Allahumma-stur 'awrati wa amin raw'ati. Allahumma-hfadhni min bayni yadayya wa min khalfi wa 'an yameeni wa 'an shimalee wa min fawqi, wa a'udhu bi 'adhamatika an ughtala min tahti.
When to Read
This is a powerful dua the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to recite after finishing his obligatory prayers. It's a moment when our hearts are often most receptive, having just engaged in worship. Making this supplication right after the tasleem (the final salutations of the prayer) is a beautiful way to seek Allah's encompassing protection and blessings for both our present life and our eternal journey.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and a humble heart after completing your Fard (obligatory) prayers, after saying 'Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullah' to your right and left. Focus on the meaning of each request, truly asking Allah to grant you His ultimate protection, guidance, and well-being. Raising your hands is not typically done for this specific dua, as it's recited after the prayer's completion, but a heartfelt earnestness in your supplication is key.
Virtues & Benefits
This comprehensive dua asks for 'Afiyah', which is a profound state of well-being encompassing physical health, spiritual soundness, protection from hardship, and contentment. By seeking 'Afiyah' in both worlds, we are asking for everything good and protection from everything bad, both in our lives now and in the Hereafter. It covers protection for our deen (religion), our dunya (worldly life), our families, and our wealth. Furthermore, it is a plea for security from all directions – front, back, right, left, and above, with a special invocation for protection from being suddenly overcome from below. It's a holistic request for Allah's care throughout our lives and a testament to our reliance on Him.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'Ask Allah for forgiveness and 'Afiyah' (well-being). No one has been given anything better than 'Afiyah' after the certainty of faith.' Then he said: 'O Allah, I ask You for pardon and 'Afiyah' in my religion, my worldly affairs, my family, and my property. O Allah, conceal my weaknesses and comfort my fears. O Allah, protect me from before me and from behind me, from my right and from my left, and from above me. And I seek refuge in Your Magnificence from being taken from beneath me.'
