O Allah, send Your mercy and blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent Your mercy and blessings upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim. Verily, You are the Most Praiseworthy, the Most Glorious. O Allah, send Your blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent Your blessings upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim. Verily, You are the Most Praiseworthy, the Most Glorious.
When to Read
This is the most recommended form of Salawat to recite during the Tashahhud in the prayer, specifically after reciting the Tashahhud itself and before saying the Salam to conclude the prayer. It's a beautiful supplication where we ask Allah to exalt the Prophet ﷺ and his household, mirroring the blessings He bestowed upon Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and his household.
How to Read
Recite this Salawat clearly and with sincerity after completing the recitation of Tashahhud in both the prayer and the funeral prayer. It is part of the concluding supplications before the final Tasleem. Pay attention to the pronunciation and the beautiful meaning behind each phrase.
Virtues & Benefits
Reciting Salawat upon the Prophet ﷺ is a source of immense blessings and acceptance of our prayers. Allah Himself commands us to send blessings upon His Messenger (Al-Ahzab 33:56). The Prophet ﷺ also promised that whoever sends Salawat upon him once, Allah will send mercy upon him ten times (Sahih Muslim 384). By reciting this specific form after Tashahhud, we are fulfilling a sunnah taught by the Prophet ﷺ and ensuring our prayers are offered with a profound connection to him.

Narrated Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila: Abdullah bin Mas'ud reported that the Prophet ﷺ taught us the Tashahhud for prayer. He said: "Say: 'At-tahiyyatu Lillahi was-salawatu wat-tayyibat. (This version is Sahih al-Bukhari 6366). Then he continued, "Then choose whichever dua you like and recite it." Another narration, Sahih al-Bukhari 6356, provides the specific Salawat mentioned above as part of the prayer's supplications after the Tashahhud: 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud narrated that the Prophet ﷺ was taught the Tashahhud and the Salawat: "Allahumma salli 'ala Muhammadin wa 'ala aali Muhammad, kama sallayta 'ala Ibrahim wa 'ala aali Ibrahim, innaka Hamidun Majid.
