اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْجَنَّةَ
O Allah, I ask You for Paradise.
Allahumma inni as'alukal-jannah
When to Read
This is a powerful short supplication to make after finishing your obligatory prayers, especially right after the Tasleem (the final salutation). It's also beneficial to repeat this intention and dua during the moments of supplication within your prayer, such as when you prostrate or during the Tashahhud, and certainly after you finish your supplications.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and a heartfelt longing for Paradise. Imagine the descriptions of Jannah – its rivers, its mansions, its eternal bliss. Let your tongue utter the words while your heart is fully present, asking your Lord with conviction. It's best to say it immediately after the Tasleem, as this is a prime time for supplication when your prayer is concluded and you're still in a state of devotion.
Virtues & Benefits
This simple yet profound dua directly asks the Most Merciful for the ultimate reward: entering Paradise. It reflects a sincere focus on the Hereafter and a reliance on Allah's grace. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this specific phrasing, highlighting its importance as a means to attain Allah's pleasure and a place in His eternal gardens. By asking for Jannah, we are reminded of our ultimate goal and are motivated to live a life that pleases our Creator.

‘Amr bin Al-‘As narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught him to say, after the prayer: 'Allahumma inni as'alukal-jannah' (O Allah, I ask You for Paradise), and 'A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min ghadabika wa 'iqabika, wa sharri 'ibadika, wa min hamazatis-shayatin wa an yahdurun' (I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from His anger and His punishment, from the evil of His servants, and from the whispers of the devils and from their being present).' (This narration is found in Sunan Abi Dawud 1510 and graded as Sahih by Al-Albani, and also in Sunan Ibn Majah 2808, graded as Hasan by Al-Albani.)
