There is no god but Allah alone, with no partner. To Him belongs sovereignty and to Him belongs praise, and He is over all things competent. O Allah, none can withhold what You give, and none can give what You withhold, and the wealth of a wealthy person does not benefit him against You.
When to Read
This powerful remembrance is recommended to be recited after completing the obligatory prayers (salah). It's a beautiful way to transition from the focused worship of prayer to the ongoing remembrance of Allah throughout your day. Reciting it immediately after the taslim (the final salutations of the prayer) ensures you are carrying the spiritual momentum of your salah.
How to Read
Recite this phrase with sincerity and full attention. Understand the meaning of each part: the absolute oneness of Allah, His dominion and praise, His power over all things, and the futility of worldly status against His decree. You can say it softly to yourself or slightly louder, depending on your surroundings and the etiquette of the place.
Virtues & Benefits
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that whoever recites this after every prayer will have their sins forgiven, even if they are as abundant as the foam of the sea. This is a tremendous mercy from Allah, a reward for maintaining remembrance of Him even after the prayer is finished. The hadith states: 'Whoever says after the prayer: ‘La ilaha illallah wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, wa Huwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadir. Allahumma la mani'a lima a'tayta, wa la mu'tiya lima mana'ta, wa la yanfa'u dhal-jaddi minkal-jadd.’ – his sins would be forgiven even if they were like the foam of the sea.' (Sahih Muslim 591, Sahih al-Bukhari 6306).
