اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ

O Allah, help me to remember You, to give thanks to You, and to worship You in the best way.

Allahumma a'inni 'ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni 'ibadatika

When to Read

This beautiful and comprehensive dua is best recited immediately after completing your obligatory prayers, while you are still in the state of reflection and spiritual connection. It's a perfect follow-up to the remembrance (dhikr) often done after Salah.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and a humble heart, focusing on the meaning of each word. Imagine yourself asking the One who has just allowed you to complete your prayer to assist you in the ongoing duties of remembering Him, being grateful to Him, and serving Him well throughout your day.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates a profound request for assistance in the core aspects of a Muslim's life: remembering Allah (dhikr), being thankful for His blessings (shukr), and performing worship with excellence (husn al-'ibadah). By asking for help in these areas, we acknowledge our own limitations and dependence on Allah, seeking His strength to live a life that is pleasing to Him, not just in prayer, but in all our affairs. It's a proactive plea to maintain that spiritual connection beyond the prayer mat and apply its lessons to fulfilling our obligations to Allah and His creation.

Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) advised a man to recite after prayer: 'O Allah, help me to remember You, to give thanks to You, and to worship You in the best way.' (Sunan Abi Dawud 1522). This hadith is narrated by Al-Harith Al-Ash'ari who reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Allah commanded Yahya (John) five things to act upon and to command the Children of Israel to act upon them... and he commanded them to pray.' He also mentioned the Prophet's statement: 'Allah commanded you to pray, so do not turn away from it when I have commanded you. So pray as you have seen me praying, and when you have prayed, say: Allahumma a'inni 'ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni 'ibadatika. (O Allah, help me to remember You, and to give thanks to You, and to worship You in the best way).'
