سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ، وَاللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ
Glory be to Allah, and praise be to Allah, and Allah is the Greatest.
SubhanAllah, walhamdulillah, wallahu akbar
When to Read
This remembrance is particularly recommended immediately after completing the obligatory (fard) prayers. It's a beautiful way to transition from the intense focus of prayer into a state of continuous gratitude and glorification of Allah.
How to Read
After finishing your prayer and reciting the standard *tasleem* (saying 'Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullah' to your right and left), begin by saying 'SubhanAllah' (Glory be to Allah) 33 times. Then, say 'Alhamdulillah' (Praise be to Allah) 33 times. Finally, say 'Allahu Akbar' (Allah is the Greatest) 33 times. It is also recommended to complete this with the following *dua*: 'لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ' (*La ilaha illallah wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu wa huwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadeer*), meaning 'There is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He is Able to do all things.' This brings the total count to 100.
Virtues & Benefits
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ informed us of immense rewards for this practice. He said: 'Whoever says 'Subhan Allah' 33 times, 'Alhamdulillah' 33 times, and 'Allahu Akbar' 33 times after every prayer, and completes it with 'La ilaha illallah wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu wa huwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadeer,' his sins will be forgiven, even if they were as abundant as the foam of the sea.' (Sahih Muslim 597). This practice elevates our worship beyond the ritual prayer, offering a continuous connection with Allah and a powerful means of seeking His forgiveness.
Source & Authentication
From Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the poor among the Emigrants came to Allah’s Messenger ﷺ and said: "The wealthy people have gone with the highest degrees and everlasting bliss." He asked: "How is that?" They replied: "They pray like us and fast like us, but they give Sadaqa (charity) out of their surplus wealth and emancipate slaves, whereas we do not have surplus wealth and do not have slaves." He then said: "Shall I not teach you something through which you will overtake those who have preceded you and beat those who come after you, and no one will be better than you unless he does what you do?" They said: "Yes, do tell us." He said: "Say: 'Subhan Allah' ten times, 'Alhamdulillah' ten times, and 'Allahu Akbar' ten times after every prayer (Salat)." This equals thirty-three utterances. Then he said: "And say: 'La ilaha illallah wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu wa huwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadeer' once." This brings the total to 100. The Prophet ﷺ also mentioned that whoever says this after every prescribed prayer, all their sins will be forgiven even if they are as vast as the foam of the sea. (Sahih Muslim 597)
