Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.
Allahu la ilaha illa huwal Hayyul Qayyum. La ta'khudhuhu sinatun wa la nawm. Lahu ma fis-samawati wa ma fil-ard. Man dhal-ladhi yashfa'u 'indahu illa bi'idhnih. Wasi'a kursiyyuhus-samawati wal-ard. Wa la ya'uduhu hifdhuhuma. Wa Huwal 'Aliyyul 'Adheem.
When to Read
This is not a specific dua to be recited, but rather a verse from the Holy Quran, Ayat al-Kursi, which is highly recommended to be recited after every obligatory prayer. The practice is to make this recitation part of your immediate post-prayer routine, before engaging in other activities.
How to Read
Recite Ayat al-Kursi with full attention and contemplation of its magnificent meaning. Ensure you pronounce the Arabic letters correctly. It is often recited once after each obligatory prayer, immediately after the Tasbih (saying SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, Allahu Akbar).
Virtues & Benefits
The recitation of Ayat al-Kursi after obligatory prayers carries immense rewards and protection. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) stated: 'Whoever recites Ayat al-Kursi after completing the obligatory prayer, nothing stands between him and entering Paradise except death.' (Narrated by An-Nasa'i, authenticated by Al-Albani in Sahih Al-Jami' 6472). Another narration mentions: 'There are two phrases, which, if a servant recites them for the sake of Allah, they will suffice him, and they are recited after the prayer: "Allahumma a'inni 'ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni 'ibadatik" (O Allah, help me to remember You, to give thanks to You, and to worship You in the best manner). And the verse of Kursi.' (Narrated by An-Nasa'i, authenticated by Al-Albani in Sahih Al-Jami' 2473). While this second hadith mentions it alongside another dua, it highlights the virtue of Ayat al-Kursi's recitation post-prayer.
