โœฆ

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from knowledge that does not benefit, from a heart that does not feel humble, from a soul that is never satisfied, and from a supplication that is not answered.

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min 'ilmin la yanfa', wa min qalbin la yakhsha', wa min nafsin la tashba', wa min du'a'in la yustajab lahu.

When to Read

This supplication is recommended to be recited after the obligatory prayers, as it's part of the Prophet Muhammad's ๏ทบ practice of seeking refuge in Allah from various evils and deficiencies following his prayers.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and focus after completing your fard (obligatory) prayers. Ensure you are in a state of Wudu. It's best to say it facing the Qiblah, but the key is the earnestness of your heart as you turn to Allah.

Virtues & Benefits

Seeking refuge from useless knowledge protects one's mind and efforts from being wasted on matters that yield no spiritual or worldly good. It aligns the intellect with beneficial pursuits. The dua also encompasses seeking protection from a heart that lacks humility (khushu'), a restless soul, and unanswered prayers, making it a comprehensive plea for spiritual well-being after prayer.

Source & Authentication

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Messenger of Allah ๏ทบ used to seek refuge (in Allah) after the prayer saying: 'O Allah, forgive me my past and future sins, what I have concealed and what I have disclosed. O Allah, grant me abundance of sustenance. O Allah, suffice me with what You have made lawful to the exclusion of what You have made unlawful, and enrich me with Your bounty to the exclusion of all save You. O Allah, my affairs have become such that I need Your goodness, my affairs are concealed from me and I am in need of Your mercy. O Allah, (bestow upon me) guidance, piety, chastity and self-sufficiency. O Allah, grant me a heart that is humble and a tongue that is truthful, and a conviction in the Hereafter, and a sound creation, and bless me in what You have ordained, and do not make what is delayed a source of trial for me, and keep me away from the path of those who err. O Allah, O Knower of the unseen, O my Helper, in my worldly affairs and my religion, protect me, and make me forget all except You, and let me attain my desire in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, indeed I seek refuge in You from the affliction of the fire, and from the affliction of the grave, and from the affliction of wealth, and from the affliction of poverty, and from the affliction of disease, and from the affliction of the evil one, and from the trial of the Dajjal. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from knowledge that does not benefit, and from a heart that does not feel humble, and from a soul that is never satisfied, and from a supplication that is not answered.'
