The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) advised a man who asked how to supplicate: 'I ask Allah for forgiveness and for Paradise.' He told him three times: 'The Prophet (peace be upon him) taught us a statement when we sit for prayer. When you finish [prayer], while you are still sitting, say: Allahumma a'inni 'ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni 'ibadatika.' (O Allah, help me to remember You, to give thanks to You, and to worship You in the best manner.)
