Dua for Removing Hardship and Ease After Prayer

After Prayer
Hasan HadithSunan Abi Dawud 4888

O Allah, I ask You for well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religion, my worldly affairs, my family, and my wealth. O Allah, conceal my faults and secure me from what I fear. O Allah, protect me from before me and from behind me, and from my right and from my left, and from above me, and I seek refuge in Your Magnificence from being struck from beneath me.

Allahumma inni as'alukal 'afiyata fid-dunya wal-akhirah. Allahumma inni as'alukal 'afwa wal-'afiyata fi dini wa dunyaya wa ahli wa mali. Allahumma-stur 'awrati wa amin raw'ati. Allahumma-hfadhni min bayni yadayya wa min khalfi wa 'an yamini wa 'an shimali wa min fawqi, wa a'udhu bi'adhamatika an ughtala min tahti.

When to Read

This comprehensive dua is perfect to recite after completing your obligatory prayers (Fard). The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ emphasized seeking 'Afiyah (well-being, safety, protection) after prayer. It's a moment when Allah's mercy is particularly accessible.

How to Read

After finishing your prayer and reciting the usual *dhikr* (remembrance of Allah) like *Subhanallah*, *Alhamdulillah*, and *Allahu Akbar*, raise your hands to the level of your shoulders, similar to making dua during prayer, and recite this supplication. Focus on the meaning of each request, feeling your dependence on Allah and His power to grant you ease and protection.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates a profound request for holistic well-being. 'Afiyah means being saved from any affliction, hardship, or evil, both physically and spiritually. By asking for 'Afiyah in religion, one seeks steadfastness, protection from temptation, and the ability to practice Islam correctly. Asking for it in worldly affairs, family, and wealth covers all aspects of our lives. The protection requested covers all directions, signifying complete reliance on Allah for safety. This comprehensive request is a powerful way to seek Allah's encompassing mercy and relief from any distress.

Source & Authentication

ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them both) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not leave these supplications, upon his departing from any sitting, without supplicating: 'O Allah, I ask You for well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religion, my worldly affairs, my family, and my wealth. O Allah, conceal my faults and secure me from what I fear. O Allah, protect me from before me and from behind me, and from my right and from my left, and from above me, and I seek refuge in Your Magnificence from being struck from beneath me.'
