Dua After Duha Prayer: Seeking Generosity and Forgiveness

After Prayer
Sahih HadithAl-Mu'jam al-Awsat N/A (reported with slight variations)

O Allah, the Duha is Your Duha, the beauty is Your beauty, the loveliness is Your loveliness, the strength is Your strength, the power is Your power, and the protection is Your protection. O Allah, if my provision is in the sky, bring it down; if it is in the earth, bring it forth; if it is difficult, make it easy; if it is unlawful, purify it; if it is far, bring it near. By the truth of Your Duha, Your beauty, Your loveliness, Your strength, and Your power, grant me what You granted Your righteous servants.

Allahumma inna ad-duhaa duhaa'uk, wal-bahaa' bahaa'uk, wal-jamaalu jamaaluk, wal-quwwatu quwwatuk, wal-qudratu qudratuk, wal-'ismatu 'ismatuk. Allahumma in kaana rizqi fis-samaa'i fa'anzilhu, wa in kaana fil-ardi fa'adhhirhu, wa in kaana mu'assaran fa yassirhu, wa in kaana haraaman fa tahhirhu, wa in kaana ba'eedan fa qarriribhu, bi haqqi duhaa'ika wa bahaa'ika wa jamaalika wa quwwatika wa qudratika, aatini ma aatayta 'ibaadakas-saaliheen.

When to Read

This beautiful supplication is ideally recited immediately after completing the Duha prayer. The Duha prayer itself is performed after the sun has fully risen and brightened, typically about 15-20 minutes after sunrise, and it can be prayed up until the time for the Dhuhr prayer.

How to Read

After finishing your Duha prayer with the tasleem (saying 'Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullah' on both sides), you can raise your hands, as is customary for supplication, and recite this dua. Focus your heart, maintain sincerity, and be certain that Allah hears your call. Remember that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us the etiquette of dua, which includes having a hopeful and humble heart.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encompasses seeking Allah's help in several crucial aspects of life: sustenance (rizq), ease in difficulties, purity in earnings, and closeness to what is beneficial. It acknowledges Allah's dominion over all things and His divine attributes. By asking to be given what He granted His righteous servants, we are essentially asking for the blessings, guidance, and success that come with righteousness. The Duha prayer itself is a charity, and this dua serves as a perfect complement, reinforcing our reliance on Allah after fulfilling a voluntary act of worship.

Source & Authentication

The hadith describing this specific dua is found in Al-Tabarani's Al-Awsat. While the exact wording might vary slightly across narrations, the essence remains the same: acknowledging Allah's blessings in the Duha time and seeking His provision and ease. Some scholars have graded its chain as authentic. For example, one narration states: The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'O Allah, indeed the Duha is Your Duha...' (Al-Tabarani in Al-Awsat).
