After Prayer
Hasan HadithSunan Abi Dawud 1522

اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ

O Allah, assist me in remembering You, in thanking You, and in worshipping You in the best manner.

Allahumma a'inni 'ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni 'ibadatika

When to Read

This powerful dua is best recited immediately after completing your obligatory prayers (Fard). It's a perfect moment to transition from the physical act of prayer into a sustained state of spiritual connection. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to make dua after salah, and this specific supplication helps us carry the essence of our prayer into our daily lives.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and a focused heart. Imagine yourself asking Allah directly for help in becoming a more conscious, grateful, and devoted servant. The words themselves are simple, but their meaning is profound, touching upon the very core of our relationship with our Creator.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates a comprehensive request for spiritual growth. By asking for help in remembering Allah (dhikr), we seek to maintain constant awareness of Him throughout our day. Asking for help in thanking Him (shukr) cultivates a heart filled with gratitude for His countless blessings. And finally, seeking assistance in worshipping Him in the best manner (husni 'ibadatika) prompts us to continuously improve our devotion and connect with Him on a deeper level. This holistic approach to spiritual development is a key to drawing closer to Allah.

Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to teach his Companions the following words (as a part of a longer supplication taught after salaam): > 'Allahumma a'inni 'ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni 'ibadatika.' > Translation: 'O Allah, assist me in remembering You, in thanking You, and in worshipping You in the best manner.' This was part of a broader teaching on what to say after finishing the prayer, signifying the importance of continuous remembrance and excellent worship.
