Narrated by Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) did not eat food until he was gifted it or bought it and was gifted one in return. He came to him (Abu Huraira) after a period of 3 days and found him to be greatly changed. He said: 'What has changed you?' He said: 'I have not eaten until the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) gifted me a meal.' He said: 'I did not know that.' Abu Huraira said: 'Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'O Allah, feed him who fed me, and give drink to him who gave me drink.'
