Anas reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came to the house of Sa'd b. 'Ubadah, and he brought some bread and oil. The Prophet (ﷺ) ate and then said: 'Your guest has eaten, and the fasting people have broken their fast with you, and the angels have prayed for you. You have a meal which the fasting people have broken their fast with, and the angels have prayed for you. Allah has blessed you with food; so send blessings upon your brethren and give them to eat, for a day and a night are incumbent upon the guest.' Anas reported: 'We were informed that Sa'd b. 'Ubadah said to the Prophet (ﷺ): 'May my father and mother be sacrificed for you. And what is incumbent upon the guest?' He (the Prophet) said: 'For a day and a night. It is not permissible for the guest to stay to the point of inconveniencing the host.' Sa'd b. 'Ubadah then asked the Prophet (ﷺ) about this (the staying of the guest): 'What is incumbent upon the guest?' He replied: 'For a day and a night. It is not permissible for the guest to stay to the point of inconveniencing the host.' (Another version of this hadith mentions: Sa'd b.
