For the Ummah
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 2708

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of whatever He has created.

Bismillāhir-raḥmānir-raḥīm. A'udhu bikalimatillāhit-tāmmāti min sharri mā khalaq.

When to Read

This powerful supplication is perfect for reciting anytime you feel vulnerable to the evil eye or envy, whether for yourself, your family, or our entire Ummah. It's especially beneficial when starting something new, when receiving blessings, or when encountering individuals known for their envious nature. Make it a habit, particularly in the morning and evening, to establish a consistent shield of divine protection.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and complete reliance on Allah. Utter the Arabic words clearly and thoughtfully. It's recommended to blow gently onto yourself or onto those you wish to protect (like your children) after reciting it, as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is reported to have done. While this specific hadith doesn't detail blowing, the practice is derived from related narrations concerning protection from harm, such as the protection against the evil eye through Surah Al-Falaq and An-Nas.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua is a direct plea to Allah using His perfect attributes, invoking His ultimate power to ward off all forms of evil, including the insidious effects of the evil eye and envy. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself taught this dua, highlighting its efficacy. By reciting it, we acknowledge that no harm can befall us except by Allah's permission, strengthening our faith and trusting in His all-encompassing protection. It's a proactive measure for safeguarding the well-being and blessings bestowed upon us and the entire Muslim community.
