Dua for the Ummah's Strength of Character and Moral Fortitude

For the Ummah
Hasan HadithSunan Abi Dawud 1528

O Allah, guide us and set us on the right path, remind us of the truth and help us to adhere to it, and remind us of falsehood and turn us away from it.

Allahumma ihdina wa saddidna, wadhkur lana al-haqqa, wa a'inna 'alayhi, wadhkur lana al-batila, wasrifna 'anhu.

When to Read

This powerful supplication can be recited during any part of your day, but it is especially fitting during the times when du'a is readily accepted, such as after obligatory prayers, during the last third of the night, or when breaking your fast. Recite it whenever you feel the need for renewed guidance and strength to uphold righteousness for yourself and for the wider Muslim community.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and a clear intention for the betterment of the Ummah. Raise your hands as you would during other supplications, facing the Qiblah if possible, and make the dua with conviction. Reflect on the meaning of each word and implore Allah to grant the Ummah clarity, steadfastness, and protection from deviation.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua directly asks Allah for two critical elements of strong character: guidance towards truth and the strength to act upon it, coupled with awareness of falsehood and the ability to distance ourselves from it. When the Ummah collectively seeks such guidance, it fosters a society that uphns justice, integrity, and righteousness. It's a comprehensive plea for moral clarity and the fortitude to maintain it, which are essential for the community's spiritual and societal well-being.
