Hasan HadithSunan Abi Dawud 4906

اللَّهُمَّ أَلِّفْ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِهِمْ، وَاجْعَلْهُمْ هُدَاةً مَهْدِيِّينَ

O Allah, unite their hearts, and make them guides who are guided.

Allahumma allif bayna qulubihim, waj'alhum hudaatan mahdiyyeen.

When to Read

Recite this dua when you meet new Muslims, or when you hear about people embracing Islam. It's also beneficial to make this prayer regularly during your personal duas, especially in the last third of the night, to support the growing Muslim community.

How to Read

Recite with sincerity and focus, visualizing the hearts of new Muslims being united with the existing Ummah. Imagine them becoming strong in their faith and embodying the teachings of Islam. Raise your hands in supplication as you normally would for du'a.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua directly asks Allah to foster unity and spiritual guidance for new Muslims. It addresses a critical need for support and belonging, helping them navigate their new spiritual journey. By asking for them to be 'guides who are guided,' we pray that they not only find their own path but also become sources of guidance for others, strengthening the entire Ummah.

Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'O Allah, unite their hearts, and make them guides who are guided.' This was part of a longer supplication made by the Prophet (peace be upon him) when praying for the Ansar (helpers) in Medina after the conquest of Mecca, seeking to bring unity and strengthen their faith.
