اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ، وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ.

O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision against Your unlawful, and enrich me with Your bounty, so that I do not need to ask anyone other than You.

Allahummakfini bihalalika 'an haramika, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak.

With sincerity and conviction, raise your hands (if possible) and earnestly call upon Allah. Understand that Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) is the Ultimate Provider. This dua is not merely a set of words; it is a request directed to the One who controls all sustenance. Believe that He will answer in a way that is best for you and the Ummah.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to his uncle Al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), is a powerful way to seek protection from unlawful earnings and to be made self-sufficient through Allah's grace. It shifts our reliance from creation to the Creator, the true source of all wealth and sufficiency. By asking to be sufficed with the lawful, we are seeking purity in our sustenance, which has immense blessings in this life and the next. It’s a way to alleviate the anxiety that debt can bring, fostering contentment and trust in Allah's plan.

Source & Authentication

Narrated Abdullah ibn al-Abbas: Al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I said: O Messenger of Allah, teach me something I can ask Allah for. He said: O Abbas, O uncle of the Messenger of Allah, ask Allah for 'Afiyah (well-being) in this world and the Hereafter. O Abbas, O uncle of the Messenger of Allah, verily I ask Allah for 'Afiyah in this world and the Hereafter. He then said: O Abbas, say: اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ، وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ. O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision against Your unlawful, and enrich me with Your bounty, so that I do not need to ask anyone other than You. — Sunan At-Tirmidhi 3563 (Hasan)
