O Allah, make this journey of ours easy for us, and shorten its distance for us. O Allah, You are the Companion on the journey and the Guardian of the family. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardships of travel and the sorrow of returning. O Allah, bring this journey closer to us and fulfill our needs.
Allahumma sahhil lana safarana hadha watwi lana bu'dahu. Allahumma Antas-sahibu fis-safari wal-khalifatu fil-ahl. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min wa'tha'is-safari wa ka'abatil-munqalabi. Allahumma qarrab lana hadhihis-safarah waqdi lana hawaijana.

The original hadith (Sahih Muslim 2086) describes the dua the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would recite when returning from a journey: "Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar (Allah is the Greatest). Laa ilaaha illallaahu wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu, wa Huwa 'alaa kulli shay'in qadeer. Aa'iboona taa'iboona 'aabidoona li Rabbina haamidoon. Sadaqallaahu wa'dahu wa nasara 'abdahu wa hazamal ahzaaba wahdahu (There is no god but Allah, alone without partner, His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He is Able to do all things. We return repentant, worshipping, and praising our Lord. Allah fulfilled His promise, aided His servant, and defeated the confederates alone)." This specific dua for departure is a composite often used by Muslims, incorporating elements of seeking ease and protection which are fundamental to travel supplications found in the Sunnah.
