Travel
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 2708

O Allah, I ask You for the goodness of this journey and the goodness of what is in it, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of this journey and the evil of what is in it. O Allah, I ask You to suffice me from its burdens, and to make this journey one of righteousness, piety, repentance, and forgiveness, and to protect me from all sins, and to forbid my body from the Fire.

Allahumma inni as'aluka khaira hadhas-safari wa khaira ma feehi wa a'udhu bika min sharri hadhas-safari wa sharri ma feehi. Allahumma inni as'aluka an takfini hamahu wa an taj'ala safaree hadha safaral-birri wat-taqwa wat-tawba wal-maghfirah wa an tu'idhani min jamee'ith-thunoobi wa an tuharrima jasadee 'alan-nar.

Source & Authentication

Sahih Muslim 2708: Narrated Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) set out on a journey, he would say the takbir three times (i.e., Allahu Akbar - Allah is the Greatest), and then say: 'Subhanalladhi sakhara lana hadha wa ma kunna lahu muqrineen. Wa inna ila Rabbina lamunqaliboon. Allahumma inna nas'aluka fi safarina hadha al-birra wat-taqwa, wa minal 'amali ma tarḍa. Allahumma hawwin 'alayna safarana hadha wathwi 'anna bu'dahu. Allahumma Antal-Wasikatu fil-ahl, wal-Ghaneematu 'alal-mal. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min wa'thā'is-safari wa kabaab al-manzari wa su'il-munqalabi fil-mali wal-ahl.' (Glory be to Him Who has subjected this to us, and we could never have accomplished it ourselves. And to our Lord, we shall surely return. O Allah, we ask You in this journey of ours for righteousness and piety, and for deeds that are pleasing to You. O Allah, make this journey easy for us, and make its distance short for us. O Allah, You are the Companion in the journey and the Successor among the family. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardships of the journey, and from seeing an evil sight, and from meeting the opposite kind in wealth and in family.) Then, another related dua is mentioned: Narrated Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to teach the Companions, when they set out on a journey, this dua: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka khaira hadhas-safari wa khaira ma feehi wa a'udhu bika min sharri hadhas-safari wa sharri ma feehi. Allahumma inni as'aluka an takfini hamahu wa an taj'ala safaree hadha safaral-birri wat-taqwa wat-tawba wal-maghfirah wa an tu'idhani min jamee'ith-thunoobi wa an tuharrima jasadee 'alan-nar.' (O Allah, I ask You for the goodness of this journey and the goodness of what is in it, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of this journey and the evil of what is in it. O Allah, I ask You to suffice me from its burdens, and to make this journey one of righteousness, piety, repentance, and forgiveness, and to protect me from all sins, and to forbid my body from the Fire.)
