سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ وَإِنَّا إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا لَمُنقَلِبُونَ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْأَلُكَ فِي سَفَرِنَا هَذَا البِرَّ وَالتَّقْوَى، وَمِنَ العَمَلِ مَا تَرْضَى، اللَّهُمَّ هَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا سَفَرَنَا هَذَا وَاطْوِ لَنَا بُعْدَهُ، اللَّهُمَّ أَنتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالخَلِيفَةُ فِي الأَهْلِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِ المَنْظَرِ وَسُوءِ المُنْقَلَبِ فِي المَالِ وَالأَهْلِ
Glory be to Him Who has subjected this (transport) to us, and we could never have accomplished it by ourselves. And surely, to our Lord we are returning. O Allah, we ask You on this journey of ours for righteousness and piety, and for such deeds as are pleasing to You. O Allah, make this journey easy for us and make its distance short for us. O Allah, You are the Companion in the journey and the Successor in the family. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardships of the journey, from seeing a wretched sight (in my return), and from the evil turn in my property and my family.
Subhanalladhi sakhkhara lana hadha wa ma kunna lahu muqrinina. Wa inna ila Rabbina lamunqalibuna. Allahumma inna nas'aluka fi safarina hadha al-birra wat-taqwa, wa minal-'amali ma tarda. Allahumma hawwin 'alayna safarana hadha, w-atwi lana bu'dahu. Allahumma Antas-sahibu fis-safari wal-khalifatu fil-ahli. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min wa'tha'is-safari wa ka'abatil-manzari wa su'il-munqalabi fil-mali wal-ahli.

When the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) intended to set out on a journey, he would say: 'Allahu Akbar' (Allah is the Greatest). Then he would say: 'Glory be to Him Who has subjected this to us, and we could never have accomplished it by ourselves. And to our Lord, surely, is our return. O Allah, we ask You for goodness and piety in this journey of ours, and for deeds that are pleasing to You. O Allah, make this journey easy for us and let us cover the distance by Your will. O Allah, You are the Companion in the journey and the Successor among the family. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardship of the journey, from the sorrow of the sight, and from the evil turn in property and family.' And when he returned, he would recite this, and add to it: 'We are returning, repenting, worshipping, and to our Lord we are devoted.'
