أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ

I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.

A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq

When to Read

Imagine you're on a road trip, and you pull over at a rest stop you've never seen before. Or perhaps you've just arrived in a new city and stepped into your temporary lodging. This beautiful supplication is recited precisely at such moments – when you stop or settle in any new, strange, or unfamiliar place. It's a spontaneous shield you cast around yourself the moment you pause your journey.

How to Read

Recite this dua with your heart present, understanding the profound meaning of what you're saying. You are seeking refuge in the *perfect words* of Allah – His attributes, His power, His decree – from *all* evil that He has created. It's a declaration of absolute trust in His protection. Say it once upon stopping, and let that sense of reliance settle within you.

Virtues & Benefits

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ promised an incredible benefit for those who recite this dua. When Khawla bint Hakeem (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated this, she shared the Prophet's ﷺ words: 'Nothing will harm him until he departs from that place.' This isn't just a comfort; it's a guaranteed protection from any harm – whether from harmful creatures, jinn, or any unforeseen danger – for as long as you remain in that spot. It's Allah's direct insurance.

Source & Authentication

It was narrated from Khawla bint Hakeem (may Allah be pleased with her) that she heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: 'When anyone stops at a place, then says: `A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq` (I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created), nothing will harm him until he departs from that place.'
