When to Read
This dua is perfect to recite at any time, but especially when embarking on something important or facing a challenge. It's also a great morning or evening supplication to set the tone for the day or reflect on it, asking Allah for His continuous support and enablement in all our affairs.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and a sincere heart, focusing on the meaning of each word. Raise your hands as you do so, as this is a Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ when making dua. Believe in Allah's ability to grant you what you ask for. Make it a regular practice, especially after your obligatory prayers or during the times when Allah is most pleased to hear from us, like the last third of the night.
Virtues & Benefits
This beautiful dua encapsulates a comprehensive request for spiritual and worldly well-being. 'Guidance' (al-huda) means directing us to the truth and the straight path. 'Piety' (at-tuqa) refers to guarding ourselves against Allah's displeasure by obeying His commands and avoiding His prohibitions. 'Chastity' (al-'afafa) means seeking purity and modesty, being content with what one has and refraining from seeking what is unlawful or demeaning. 'Contentment' (al-ghina) is the richness of the heart, being satisfied with Allah's decree and provisions, which is the true wealth. By asking for these, we are essentially asking Allah for 'tawfiq' – the divine enablement to live a life that pleases Him, which is the ultimate success.
