اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

O Allah, I ask You for knowledge that is beneficial, provision that is good and lawful, and deeds that are accepted.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan

When to Read

This powerful dua is perfect to recite before, during, or after any job application process. Whether you are preparing your resume, attending an interview, or simply seeking Allah's guidance for your career path, incorporating this supplication acknowledges that all success and provision ultimately come from Him. It's a comprehensive request for the components of a fulfilling professional life: useful knowledge, righteous sustenance, and meaningful work.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and conviction. Face the Qiblah if possible, raise your hands (though this is not strictly required for this specific dua), and utter the words clearly. Believe that Allah hears your supplication and will respond in the best way for you. It’s beneficial to repeat this dua regularly throughout your job search.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encompasses three vital aspects for a believer's life, especially concerning work and sustenance. Asking for 'beneficial knowledge' ('ilman naafi'an') ensures that any skills or learning acquired in your job search or future role are used for good. 'Good and lawful provision' ('rizqan tayyiban') is a constant plea for sustenance that is pleasing to Allah and ethically sourced. Finally, seeking 'accepted deeds' (''amalan mutaqabbalan') means asking that your efforts and work are recognized and rewarded by Allah, both in this life and the Hereafter. This comprehensive request shows reliance on Allah for all aspects of success.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to supplicate: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan' (O Allah, I ask You for knowledge that is beneficial, provision that is good and lawful, and deeds that are accepted).
