Sahih HadithSahih Ibn Hibban 975

اللَّهُمَّ لا سَهْلَ إِلاَّ مَا جَعَلْتَهُ سَهْلا، وَأَنْتَ تَجْعَلُ الْحَزْنَ إِذَا شِئْتَ سَهْلا

O Allah, there is no ease except what You make easy. If You will, You can make grief easy.

Virtues & Benefits

This supplication was taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to his uncle Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) when he asked him for instruction. It teaches us to rely solely on Allah for success and to recognize that all ease originates from Him. By reciting it, we acknowledge His absolute power over all affairs, seeking His divine assistance to overcome obstacles and achieve success in our endeavors. It instills a sense of calm and dependence on the Creator, which can significantly boost confidence and reduce anxiety when facing daunting tasks.

Source & Authentication

Narrated Ibn `Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them): One day I was behind the Prophet (ﷺ) and he said, 'O young boy! I shall teach you some words. Be mindful of Allah, and Allah will protect you. Be mindful of Allah, and you will find Him with you. If you ask, ask of Allah. If you seek help, seek help from Allah. Know that if the whole creation were to unite to benefit you, they would not benefit you except a thing that Allah has already decreed for you. If they were to unite to harm you, they would harm you only to the extent that Allah has decreed for you. The pens are lifted, and the ink has dried. And in another narration: '...the ink has dried.' Then he said: 'Allah supports you with those who have achieved what you desired. And the winner is the one who has overcome his desires. And the man who has done good deeds is the one who strives for perseverance. And I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, should I not learn it (the Dua)?' He said: 'Yes, you should learn it from me.' Then he said: 'O Allah, Teacher of Abraham, and Imbuer of Solomon, grant me wisdom.' He then taught me this supplication: 'O Allah, there is no ease except what You make easy. If You will, You can make grief easy.'
