Success
Hasan HadithSunan At-Tirmidhi 3563

اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ، وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ

O Allah, suffice me with what You have made lawful, instead of what You have made unlawful, and enrich me with Your grace, so that I shall not need anyone other than You.

Allahummakfini bihalalika 'an haramik, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak

When to Read

Recite this dua when you are striving towards a personal goal, whether it's a career aspiration, a spiritual pursuit, a family objective, or any endeavor you wish to see succeed through lawful means. It's particularly potent when you feel the weight of your efforts and seek Allah's facilitation and provision.

How to Read

Recite this with sincerity and conviction, feeling the reliance on Allah (tawakkul). It's best recited with a humble heart, perhaps after Fardh (obligatory) prayers or during the times when duas are more readily answered, such as the last third of the night or between the Adhan and Iqamah. Visualize your goal being achieved through lawful means and Allah's bounty.

Virtues & Benefits

This powerful dua, attributed to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, encompasses seeking lawful sustenance and independence from reliance on creation. By asking Allah to suffice us with the lawful, we are seeking protection from unlawful shortcuts or means that might compromise our deen. The second part, 'enrich me with Your grace, so that I shall not need anyone other than You,' cultivates a deep sense of contentment and reliance solely on Allah, which is a cornerstone of true success and peace of mind. It aligns our desires with Allah's decree and seeks His blessing in our pursuits.

Narrated Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him): A creditor of mine came to me and demanded me to pay him. I had nothing with me to pay him. So I appealed to Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) for help. He said: 'O Ali, go to the mosque and pray two rak’ahs of prayer, then say: O Allah, O Al-Mughni (The Enricher), O Al-Mughni (The Enricher), O Al-Mughni (The Enricher) (repeat it three times), then say: O Allah, O Wahhab (The Bestower), O Wahhab (The Bestower), O Wahhab (The Bestower) (repeat it three times), then say: O Allah, O Razzaq (The Provider), O Razzaq (The Provider), O Razzaq (The Provider) (repeat it three times), then say: O Allah, I ask You by Your wealth which does not decrease, and by Your lasting kingdom which does not end, and by Your glorious countenance which does not change or fade, and by Your words which are fulfilled, and by Your creation which is not forbidden, that You enrich me with lawful provision, sufficient to keep me from seeking unlawful provision, and that You enrich me with Your grace, so that I shall not need anyone other than You.' Ali said: 'So I did that, and then I went to the mosque. I prayed two rak’ahs of prayer, and said what the Prophet (peace be upon him) had told me. Then I went to my home. I found my creditor there. Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) came to me, and when he saw him, he said: What happened?' I told him what I had said. So Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said: 'O Ali, you have been given the same as was given to the messengers before you, because of your supplication.' (The narrator said): 'And it was narrated from him (the Prophet) the like of this, and also narrated: 'O Allah, suffice me with what You have made lawful, instead of what You have made unlawful, and enrich me with Your grace, so that I shall not need anyone other than You.''
