بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي لَا يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَيْءٌ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي السَّمَاءِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ

In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing on earth or in heaven can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.

Bismillahil-ladhi la yadhurru ma'asmihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa huwas-Sami'ul-'Aleem

When to Read

This powerful dua is recommended to be recited three times in the morning and three times in the evening. It's a beautiful way to start and end your day, entrusting yourself and your loved ones to Allah's protection against any harm, be it from physical ailments, accidents, or unseen dangers.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and a firm belief in Allah's power. Focus on the meaning of the words as you speak them. It is often recited with hands outstretched and then passed over the body, starting from the head, as a physical act of seeking protection. The key is mindfulness and connecting with the essence of seeking refuge in Allah's name.

Virtues & Benefits

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) promised that whoever recites this dua in the morning and evening will not be afflicted by any sudden calamity until morning or evening respectively. This means Allah grants a shield of protection for that period. It fosters a sense of peace and security, knowing that our ultimate safeguard is the Lord of the Worlds. Narrated by Uthman ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'There is no servant who says, in the morning of every day and the evening of every night: Bismillahil-ladhi la yadhurru ma'asmihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa huwas-Sami'ul-'Aleem - 'In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing on earth or in heaven can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing' - except that nothing will harm him.' (Sunan Abi Dawud 3868, Sunan Ibn Majah 3548. It is considered Sahih by many scholars).
