Dua for Entering Paradise and its Blessings

Success
Hasan HadithSunan Ibn Majah 4304

O Allah, I ask You for Paradise and that which brings one closer to it of speech or deeds. And I seek refuge in You from the Fire and that which brings one closer to it of speech or deeds.

Allahumma inni as'alukal jannah wa ma qarraba ilayha min qawlin aw 'amal, wa a'udhu bika minan nari wa ma qarraba ilayha min qawlin aw 'amal.

When to Read

This is a comprehensive dua that can be recited at any time, especially after salah (obligatory prayers) or during personal supplications (dua). It's particularly potent when reflecting on one's deeds and their ultimate destination.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, understanding that true success lies in attaining Allah's pleasure and His Paradise. Raise your hands as you would during supplication, facing the Qiblah if possible. Reflect on the meaning of asking for Paradise and seeking refuge from the Fire, connecting your heart to these profound realities.

Virtues & Benefits

This powerful dua encompasses seeking the ultimate reward – Al-Jannah (Paradise) – and importantly, it asks Allah to enable us to perform the actions that will lead us there. It also includes seeking refuge from the Hellfire, acknowledging our need for Allah's protection from His punishment. By asking for 'speech or deeds' that bring us closer to either, we are essentially asking for guidance to live a life pleasing to Allah, which is the true definition of success.

Source & Authentication

It was narrated from 'Amr bin Al-'as that the Prophet (ﷺ) taught him a Dua to say in the prayer: 'Allahumma inni as'alukal jannah wa ma qarraba ilayha min qawlin aw 'amal, wa a'udhu bika minan nari wa ma qarraba ilayha min qawlin aw 'amal.' (O Allah, I ask You for Paradise and that which brings one closer to it of speech or deeds. And I seek refuge in You from the Fire and that which brings one closer to it of speech or deeds.)
